Vintage stamps

Don't you think that a beautiful envelope with a beautiful letterpress greeting card, lovingly printed on an antique printing press wouldn't be complete without a beautiful vintage postage stamp? I don’t know but… the stamps I brought today from the, ‘Precious Moments’ collection at my local post office were hardly inspiring or precious!

Thankfully Staint Gertrude Design and Letterpress, of Collingwood, Melbourne, has answered all our prayers and has valid, unused, Australian vintage postage stamps available to buy online. Alleluia!

I think it’s safe to say I’ll be stocking up on these for my next mail out. I just hope I can bring myself to part with them when I do :)

Positively Green is what I want to be

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways, greeting card by Positively Green.

Positively Green Cards: beautiful words, simple illustrations, environmentally conscious
and a Louie Award Winner! (the equivalent to winning an Oscar in the greeting card industry). Positively Green Cards are created by greeting card heavy weight, Compendium Inc, which seem to be so concerned about the environment that they donate 10% of the profits from the sale of these cards to organizations that work to protect the environment. Let’s hope they keep on caring about our planet :)

Reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Kermit the Frog
I think he was way ahead -

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful
And I think it's what I want to be.

The year that was...

  • February 14th, I went to see my GP... I was unhappy, tired, and lost. I can’t quite remember why I felt this way... either way my GP decided it wasn't necessary to put me in straight jacket... as long as I wrote down 5 things I enjoyed about my day, every day, without fail! And so... this simple exercise lead me to focus on what I enjoyed!
  • In March I designed The Little Paper House Logo.
  • I started this blog spot in May.
  • In June I brought my first letterpress machine.
  • In July The Hungry Workshop letterpress printed our business cards.
  • August, September, and October I hibernated (mostly) as the kids where constantly sick...
  • In November I opened an on-line store.
  • By December I had the first of our cards letterpress printed, and sold out. We also had a website!

In 2012...
  • I won't missing out on a perfectly working Windmill for $1500 on eBay again!
  • I'll still be living rent free, but mortgage burdened....
  • All our cards letterpress printed (Don't hold me to it)
I hope 2012 is greater for you and me both :)

Left to right: Urban living. My studio. The Dali in me. Early Mornings. Zine Fair goodies.
Xmas beetle. Hervey Bay. Our hard working sales pk. Letterpress workshop with Mr Finn.
Our Biz cards. Yum Cha. Flemington Markets every Saturday morning. Random pict. Doodle.
Paper plane invite. Blueberry card. Endless washing.  My precious books. Cold winter mornings...

Colossal Clean Up

This is my imaginary book cover for a kids comic book titled Colossal Clean Up - How one squid rid the sea of plastic waste. Right that...
